Sihanoukville

Sihanoukville (also Known as Kompong Som)is Cambodiaâ€™s only maritime port. Its chief attractions are the four beaches that ring the headland. None of them rival Thailandâ€™s finest, but during weekdays you quite often have the beach to yourself. It isnâ€™t the worldâ€™s most sophisticated resort, but if you feel the need to escape the searing heat of Cambodiaâ€™s dry season, this makes a pleasant retreat all the same. It is popular during festivals and remains dry and hot from December to July.

In Sihanoukville there are six main tourist sites consisting four beaches, one island and one natural and cultural resort.

Ochheuteal Beach:

Locates at Sangkat No 3, Sihanouk ville. The beach has the nost beautiful characteristics-large beautiful sand beach, shallow water and quiet sea. We found the beach has specific either geographical aspect or the arrangement. Most of tourists who visit here are foreign tourists. They usually stay at Crystal Hotel and Seaside Hotel.

Independence Beach/7Chhan Beach:

Has short length, narrow space and pig wave. Most of tourists who visit here are local tourists. The Beach is averagely crowded ranking after Sokha beach.

Victory Beach:

Not as big as Ochheuteal beach but it is easily accessible if your staying at Victory hill or Weather Station.

Sokha Beach:

Now occupying the whole of Sokha Beach it is Sihanoukvilles first full resort complex .Sokha Beach is a 1kilometer long private.

Otres Beach:

Enjoy sunrise and sunset from your own balcony or from our open sided Panoramic Restaurant. Take in the magnificent vista of the beaches east and west, the sea and nearby islands. Experience a night sky to remember.

Bamboo Island (Koh Russei):

A secluded tropical island paradise, Bamboo Island, with a population circa 30, is located 10 km's off the shore of Serendipity Beach. Read, soak up the sun, play chess or watch the local fisherman pull in their daily catch right off the island's shores. The immediate area has both shallow and deep water beaches, ideal swimming for all ages.The view from the rustic beach cabins combines soft white sand, blue sky, torquise sea and the lush green islands across.

Koh Poos Resort:

Is the quiet island having white sand and locating at 1km distance from the beach. This island has not many tourists because the island has not been developed yet. Most tourists, who visit the island, usually as group, need to bring along their food.

Phnom Leu Resort:

Is the natural and cultural resort consisting of mountain and a pagoda built on the mountaintop, and has been called on by the local people during the festival days, at the mountaintop, tourists can view the beautiful scenary, especially the beauty of Sihanouk ville beach.

		Clean water source of Kbal Chhay: Locates at Khan Prey Nup in 7km distance from the Sihanouk Ville town, then turning left more 9km by a red soil road. The waterfall of Kbal Chhay has many soursces from the mountain rank at the seaside. The history of Kbal Chhay waterfall was found in 1960. Until 1963 Kbal Chhay arranged as the clean-water sources for providing to Sihanouk Ville, but the arrangement was failed became a hidden place for Khmer Rouge.
In 1997, Kbal Chhay was changed to the developing zone. In 1998 Kbal Chhay was for bid by Kok An company on constructing road and changing this site as tourist resort for local and international tourists. Nowadays, the Royal Government of Cambodia has changed this site as the clean-water sources for providing clean water to Sihanouk Ville.

Ream Beach:

Though not untouristed, the Ream Beaches see far fewer visitors than Sihanoukville beaches. Located in The Ream National Park. Take Route 4 to the Airport road 18km north of town. Turn right, go 9km to the ocean. The beach to the right is long and narrow and frequented more by fishermen than tourist. Behind the beach is a mangrove swamp, which attracts wide variety of tropical birds.
